About Casa da Música

Casa da Música is one of Europe's most recognizable concert halls, located in the Boavista area of Porto. The angular building, clad in white concrete, was designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and his studio OMA, and has become, since its opening, a landmark of contemporary Portuguese architecture.

It's home to the Porto Symphony Orchestra Casa da Música, and its regular programme includes classical music, jazz and other genres, spread across several performance halls within the building. Besides the concerts, Casa da Música is itself a destination of architectural interest, with routes and guided tours that explore the inside of the building.

How to get there from the park

Casa da Música is a comfortable walk from the eastern entrance of Porto City Park, near Rotunda da Boavista. The route runs along Avenida da Boavista, one of the city's main thoroughfares, and is also well served by public transport, including its own metro station.

Guided tours and programme

For those who want to see the inside of the building without attending a concert, Casa da Música usually offers guided tours focused on the architecture and history of the space. The hours, prices and availability of these tours — as well as the concert programme — vary throughout the year, so it's best to always check the current schedule on the official Casa da Música website before planning your visit.

Nearby points of interest

A short distance away, also in the western part of the city, is the Serralves Museum, with its park and gardens, a popular combination with a visit to Casa da Música on the same day.
